I was really surprised to see such tremend- ous volume of goods, and to realise the nearly endless possibilities for presenting carpets appealingly for the consumer.”

The stands of machine manufacturers Stäu- bli, Van de Wiele and Zimmer Austria were also much-frequented by the attending public in Hannover. Conversations between carpet makers and machine suppliers frequently re- volved around flexibility, energy efficiency and, of course, sustainability.
The steadily increasing importance of ma- chine-woven carpets is also apparent in the assortments of handmade carpet importers. Nearly all exhibitors specialised in working with big chains offer a wide range of machine-

The Green Collection Awards
Domotex created The Green Collection as a spe- cial exhibit area aligned with the fair’s slogan Floo- red by Nature, consisting of 54 exhibit items pro- vided by carpet and floor covering manufacturers.
Sustainability was the common thread, with four sub-themes: eco-friendly products made of recy- cled and upcycled raw materials, healthy products made using low-emissions substances, sustainab-
le production, i.e. energy-saving, environmentally friendly manufacturing processes and social res- ponsibility with a focus on labour conditions.
The ceremony concluded with an award presen- tation for the most exciting products and projects to winners chosen by a panel of five highly qua- lified judges: Bayram Aslan, Director of the inte- rior building products certification institute TFI
