Naturland Wildfish - exemplarily sustainable
”Fishing trips in pollack nurseries are ruled out by the Naturland Wildfish certification,” explains Michael Seidel, managing director of Kutterfisch, whose pollack fishery in the North Sea is certified according to the strict Naturland Wildfish standards. This is one example of many for the individual farm management requirements specific to each project. Other fish that is Naturland Wildfish certified includes Icelandic cod, plaice from the North Sea, tuna from the Azores, and Nile perch from Lake Victoria.
Naturland aquaculture - always one step ahead
”Naturland shrimp farmers are obligated to reafforest former mangrove forests,“ emphasises Michael Stienen, managing director of Naturland Zeichen. This shows, just as is the case with many of its other requirements, how Naturland’s guidelines on organic aquaculture surpass the EU organic regulations.The protection of ecosystems, animal welfare, and good working conditions for people are always central. In Naturland aquacul- ture, stocking densities are more strictly limited and the use of antibiotics is completely prohibited for shrimps, strongly restrict- ed for fish. In addition, certified farms all over the world have
to comply with Naturland‘s standards for social responsibility.
Naturland Wildfisch – exemplarisch nachhaltig
„Fangfahrten in den Kinderstuben der Seelachse schließt
die Naturland Zertifizierung aus“, erklärt Michael Seidel, Geschäftsführer von Kutterfisch, deren Seelachsfischerei in der Nordsee nach den strengen Naturland Wildfisch Richtli- nien zertifiziert ist. Ein Beispiel von vielen für die projektspe- zifischen Bewirtschaftungsauflagen, die für jede Fischerei individuell definiert werden. In Naturland Wildfisch Qualität gibt es bislang außerdem isländischen Kabeljau, Nordsee- Scholle, Azoren-Thunfisch sowie Viktoriaseebarsch.
Naturland Aquakultur – immer einen Schritt voraus
„Naturland verpflichtet seine Garnelenfarmer, ehemalige Man- grovenwälder wieder aufzuforsten“, betont Michael Stienen, Geschäftsführer Naturland Zeichen. In dieser wie in zahlrei- chen anderen Anforderungen geht die Naturland Aquakultur Richtlinie über die EU-Verordnung hinaus. Immer mit einem hohen Anspruch an den Schutz des gesamten Öko-Systems sowie an das Wohl von Tier und Mensch. So sind die Besatz- dichten strenger begrenzt und der Einsatz von Antibiotika bei Garnelen verboten, bei Fischen stark eingeschränkt. Weltweit müssen die zertifizierten Betriebe außerdem die Naturland Richtlinien für soziale Verantwortung einhalten.
