As in previous years, Indian carpet suppliers will be presenting together at a very sizable group stand. The Indian Carpet Export Promo- tion Council (CEPC) has booked 2,500 sqm of space for its members, expecting more than 200 of its member firms from all over India to ex- hibit at Domotex.
Carpet Star Awards
An important industry event is upcoming on the very first day of the fair: the awards cere- mony for the Carpet Stars 2023 recipients, to be held in Hall 2 at 17:00 on Thursday, 12 January 2023.
   SEBASTIAN HERKNER
Sebastian Herkner studied product design before founding his own studio in Offenbach am Main in 2006. His manufacturing clients include Classicon, De Vorm, Moroso and Na- noo, and he is active as well in interior design projects and for exhibitions and museums. Herkner is known for his particular feel for materials, colours and textures, for blending cultural contexts within his designs and for utilising new technologies in traditional crafts- manship.
MARK BRAUN
Mark Braun is a trained carpenter, holds a degree in industrial design and has been running his own design studio in Berlin since 2006. His portfolio includes projects for corporate clients including Conmoto, Hem, Lobmeyr, Northern, Nomos Glashütte and Thonet among many others. Characterised by a clear linearity, Braun’s designs embody the Bauhaus-era principle of “form follows function” within new approaches that express his own personal ideas of design.
Alongside his studio projects, Braun has served as visiting professor and lecturer at various design universities including HKD Burg Giebichenstein, Halle and ECAL in Lausanne, Switzerland. He has been a professor at the Saar College of Fine Arts since 2015. Mark Braun on his design philosophy: “I am interested in designing things that feel familiar to people, yet are new.”
